I. OBJECTIVES OF SOIL CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT :
1. Prevention of Land degradation by adopting Multi-disciplinary approach in the catchment and command areas for better Land resource Management.
2. Improvement of Land capability and moisture regime in Agricultural lands.
3. Promotion of proper land use to match the land capability class.
4. Prevention of soil loss from the catchments to minimize siltation of reservoir and in Arable lands with a view to mitigate flash flood.
5. Peoples involvement in the management of catchment and command areas.
6. Up-gradation of skills of the beneficiaries in planning and execution of schemes.
7. To maintain Ecological balance by providing vegetative cover through protective afforestation in vulnerable areas.
8. Stabilization of riverine areas.
II. MAIN SCHEMES IMPLEMENTED WITH STATISTICS / PHOTOGRAPHS:
1. State Plan Schemes.
2. Schedule Caste Component Scheme ( SCCP).
3. Rastriya Krishi Vikash Yogana (RKVY).
4. Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP).
III. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF EACH SCHEME & BENEFICIARIES :
1. Gully Control Scheme : To provide RCC drop structure to check runoff and silt from the catchment areas and thus control of soil fertility and improve insitu moisture conservation.


2) Land Development / Earthen Periphery Bunds :

Providing earthen bund along the periphery of nallah / stream to check spillover runoff to improve moisture regime of Agricultural lands & also checks flash floods.
3) Re-excavation of Drainage Channel :

Desilting of existing nallah for disposal of surplus water from Marshy / Waterlogged / Unproductive lands to make cultivable of low-lying / waterlogged areas.

4) River Training Works :
Stabilisation of river bank in vulnerable areas by vegetative & Mechanical means through boulder sausage dams / spurs etc.
5)
Protective Afforestation :
Creation of plantation to increase vegetative cover in vulnerable areas to check soil erosion & to maintain ecological balance.
6) Beneficiaries :
Majority of the families within the District are inherited farmers and having agricultural lands. But due to conventional methods of cultivation the productivity is poor and not optimum.
Thus, by way of implementing the above mentioned schemes through latest technological inputs, the productivity of the land increases & the socio-economic status of the inhabitants get improved.

IV. NEWS (NEWLY IMPLEMENTED SCHEMES, NEW SCHEMES, RESULTS, ADVERTISEMENT ETC.):


There is one number of ongoing Project on Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), wherein Awareness campaign, EPA and Constitution of Watershed Committees are completed.
As regards, Entry Point Activities; RCC Ring Well for drinking water facilities, Improvement of Village Road approaches for rural connectivity of the surrounding villages. The aim of such project is to uplift the socio–economic status of different categories viz. Land less peoples, Marginal & Small farmers and also Natural resource conservation for sustainability. Moreover it will generate employment opportunity to the local youths. Further, need based different activities will also be carried out through watershed committee along with PRI’s.
